Origins and Expansion

The SOCO brand, initially founded in 1932, finds its roots in the Tanneries of Bort-les-Orgues. Founded by Gustave Brun in 1880, these tanneries quickly became a major player in leather production in France, employing up to 690 people at their peak in the 1960s. The tannery was ideally located in Bort-les-Orgues, crossing by the Dordogne and rich in breeding land, thus providing abundant raw material for the production of high quality leather.

Transformation into a Leather Goods Brand

After decades of success in the leather industry, Tanneries de Bort-les-Orgues evolved to become SOCO, a luxury leather goods brand. This transition was made in response to the growing demand for high-quality finished products and the need to diversify the company's activities. The SOCO brand quickly gained international recognition thanks to its unique designs and the exceptional quality of its products.

International Recognition

In the 1980s, SOCO established itself on the global market with its distinctive and colorful handbags, notably thanks to the iconic "San Diego" line. SOCO bags have been adopted by a young and urban clientele, seduced by their sassy and recognizable character.

One of the highlights of SOCO's international fame was its appearance in the popular television series "Seinfeld". The handbag worn by the heroine Elaine Benes throughout the seasons helped to popularize the brand among a wide audience, thus reinforcing its image as an accessible and trendy luxury product.

Heritage and Modernity

Today, SOCO continues to combine heritage and modernity, offering products that combine artisanal tradition and innovation. Under the leadership of Marie Mignon, the brand has undergone a renaissance, reaffirming its commitment to quality and authenticity. Each SOCO bag is individually numbered and made from premium Italian leather, ensuring exceptional quality and attention to detail.

SOCO, from its beginnings as a local tannery to its current status as an internationally recognized luxury leather goods brand, embodies a story of transformation and innovation. With more than 90 years of history, SOCO continues to seduce with its unique creations and its commitment to artisanal excellence.
